Nags Head in my rear view mirror (SOLD)

I am slowly coming to the end of my trip up the beachroad. My last taco, a fading memory, but I'm in the moment. I check my hair, and suddenly, Nags Head in my rear view mirror.

Stinson Ranch Nag's Head (SOLD)

There are a number of nonconforming structures in Nag's Head, NC. This is one of them. This house sits "IN" the Ablemarle Sound. There are a few of these on the soundside of the Outer Banks. I did a bit of research on this place at the end of Soundside Road in Nag's Head. It has a name, "Stinson Ranch" and several articles on the web about it.
 Here is one link
This place is listed on the National Historic Registry. Who knew?
I have seen this place painted before by other local artists.

Arch Street Traffiking (SOLD)

This scene is reminiscent of perhaps what the beach access at Arch Street in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina might look like  should you be driving the beachroad in the mornings. Without further qualifications, no explanations will be offered.
I really love painting on these smooth wood panels. I have used up all I have on hand. Also I use a lot less thinner and a lot more paint.

Soaring (SOLD)

I painted a pelican.
Sure, I have dreams. Sometimes I dream I am soaring above, but its always at night and I get tangled in the overhead powerlines. Don't pay any attention to my dreams.

Poultry In Motion

"....is that your rooster, Oom Schalk?"
When I was back in South Dakota I chased  my favorite rooster around Bob's spread by mud creek. I painted this rooster a few times last year . I was glad to see that he made it through the winter. He brings his best game.

Nouvelle Heron Blanco(SOLD)

My first go on one of these smooth wood panels. I am instantly aware of every brushstroke. I love painting on these. I applied 4 coats of gesso, sanded between coats. It seems as much work to prep. the wood as it did to paint it.
This white heron was stalking a slough near Bitter Lake.

Oh Canada, Go Canada

A lot of farmers in South Dakota are more than a little pissed off at the Canadians for letting their geese freeload in the Midwest and eat us out of house and field. Rising waters and warmer temperatures means a population explosion of these guys. In an effort to keep the numbers in check the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks has decided to increase the limit of Canada geese that can be shot during hunting season from 1 to 9. Canadas be warned.
If you are confused about the one to shoot, canadas go "honk", Canadians go "aye"
