Bar Scene (on painting the beachroad)

If a painting is complicated I often do an acrylic underpainting. It is difficult keeping that same loose feel in the final product. Above is proof that mucking in can be just that. I have learned important lessons with this painting. People give life to the work. Thanks Tyler. People are difficult to paint. A bar scene at sunset along the beachroad. Oil on canvas 20"X16".

I do like the looseness in this painting at this stage. I agree that it is very hard to keep it that way. What's YOUR plan. I gave up. Tight Tight Tight-- for now anyway.

This painting is a narrative painting, I wonder if it will keep it's mystery once you "muck" at it (your term, not mine).

This has developed very nicely. Very fresh and spontaneous. Good job, man.
Working oil over acrylic is a great way for you to work, giving the advantages of both.
