A Brief History of Tuna

For a long time I have tried to come up with a better name for this painting of a blue shrimp boat in Wanchese Harbor. So "Blue" seemed to fit my mantra.

I am going to call this painting officially my 1500th painting and post. Not such an important number really, but 1500 times now I have clicked on that "publish" button and tried to remain true to that wonder that is painting. That in itself is somewhat impressive. Yes. I hope to complete another 1500 or at least my masterpiece. I must believe it is still ahead of me. Thank you for coming to my blog and thank you for buying all these paintings!

The Sailfish on Avalon Pier (SOLD)

One year, (possibly 1990), someone caught a sailfish from the end of The Avalon Fishing Pier. The wind had been blowing steady out of the east for what must have been 2 weeks. The wind brought the gulfstream on shore. I saw flying fish jump at the edge of the piling and the weeds and plants that line the gulfstream were littered up and down the beach. Charlie Falk owned the pier. There was a sign next to the "Avalon Fishing Pier" that read "Charlie Falk Auto". Charlie had a special display case built on the facade of the pier house.   For years after a replica of the fish baked behind the glass in the afternoon sun.
