At the other end of Sutton Street Beach Access sits The Wright Brothers Memorial. This hill was the site that the brothers first flew their little homemade airplane.
In my opinion it looks more like a big concrete jello mold.
I went to the fish market and bought a sheepshead. I asked the fishmonger if he had any with the head still on. I proudly told him I was going to paint it.
He said, "oh."
That was on Weds. of last week.
I had to finish this still life without the star of the show. After a while the inside of my nose started to hurt a little bit. I think it was worth the effort. I don't think I am going to be eating it. The dog won' touch it, and I haven't seen the cats all day.
I am a lot like this kid in the red shirt. seeking. I paint every day. yes. Every day I slog away at it. I make mistakes and start over and sometimes I am thankful for the opportunity to mix color. I don't post a lot of the works I do these days. If I had painted them last year I would have been satisfied with them, but now it is more and more difficult to be happy with this or that. All that said, I slog away it every day and I am grateful for it.
I have been distracted by so many things. I take some solace in the fact that these distractions are temporary and that better days lay ahead. Keeping focused is the hardest part.
This beautiful cypress tree sits at a turn along Sound Landing Road in Kitty Hawk. Behind the cypress is the highpoint of The Wright Memorial Bridge and Currituck County. I really like his painting and would love to sell it. Thank you very much.
