Slip Sliding Away

I am struggling with how to crop and photo my paintings. Thus the little black line on the left. Anyway, enough about that. I will take another photograph if it bothers you that much.

Razzo "The Rocket"

This is Razzo and the boat behind is Capt. Skyler
It seems like I have spent a lot of time on this. Not always a good thing to do. Some of that time was more enjoyable than other times. Such is life and painting.
Razzo sits in boatyard in Wanchese and is scheduled for demolition.
Oil on canvas 16"X20"
I donated this painting to the Outer Banks Hospital Cancer Research Center.

Fishing Frenzy (SOLD)

here is a my rendition of a photo taken by the captain of the Fishing Frenzy, a charter fishing boat docked in Oregon Inlet Marina. Nice fish.
I never do this. This is from a photo I ripped on facebook. I did this painting as a gift for a nice lady that does a lot for dogs all across the continent. I hope she and the Captain of the Fishing Frenzy like it.

The Shapes I'm In

This is a painting of the shapes of these boats in dry storage in Wanchese, North Carolina. I painted this as "loosey" as I would allow myself and concentrated on just the shape and feel of these boats.
That's my story.

Feels Like Seafood (SOLD)

You can't make this stuff up. In this painting I am all about painting the way seafood  feels or the impression of the seafood. Just like the way you would paint the feeling of a landscape and not the things in the landscape. It is hard to know when you finally do get it right. I will let you be the judge.

Light Up Anxiety (SOLD)

The first time I saw a bullnose dolphin or mahi-mahi in the bottom of the boat, I thought "...what manner of mutant fish is this?" Just before they die, dolphin and other fish, "lightup" in a way that causes them to look florescent against the dark blue of the Atlantic gulf stream.  They are called the perch of the sea.

Eckener

This beach access in Kitty Hawk was most likely named for this guy.
Dr. Hugo Eckener (10 August 1868 – 14 August 1954)[1][2][3] was the manager of the Luftschiffbau Zeppelin during the inter-war years, and also the commander of the famous Graf Zeppelin for most of its record-setting flights, including the first airship flight around the world, making him the most successful airship commander in history. He was also responsible for the construction of the most successful type of airships of all time. An anti-Nazi who was invited to campaign as a moderate in the German presidential elections,[1][4][5] he was blacklisted by that regime and eventually sidelined.

Maybe this is too much information?
What?
Everybody is wearing them.

Bleriot

French aviator who in 1909 made the first flight across the English Channel (1872-1936)
I painted on this for what seemed like a long time. I can hardly remember when I wasn't painting on this beach access at the end of Bleriot Street in Kitty Hawk.  Hope I don't go senile.
I think this guy caught a bluefish!

Waiting on Nurishment

I have decided to take on a series. I plan to paint some of the beach accesses along North Carolina Highway 12. I am starting at the north end of Kitty Hawk. This house is just over the dune on the south side of Bieriot Street. I do not think it will be around to see any beach nourishment and the place is not habitable, but it has a lamp in the window on the back side.

Bubbles

Picasso said "inspiration likes to find you working in the studio."
To that end I have been grinding away days and days painting things and drawing things that could not hold my interest and showed it.
I think this one has a bit of drama. Bubbles.

A Nag's Head Scenario (SOLD)

This is a commission I am doing for a friend, and a work in progress at that.
 Still too much red?
 You think?

Not such good news.
My mother died a few days ago. She was 94. Rosemary. For the last 10 months she has been in a care facility in South Dakota. I have been calling her every day for the past year. Needless to say I miss her and our converstions and everything seems so sad.
I am going to South Dakota for a while. There is still 3 feet of snow there. What's that all about?
I have been faithful and do something artistic every day. Mostly, of late, my efforts  have not satisfied me enough to post them.
I read somewhere that painting is one thing that gets harder to do the more you know about it. If that be true, then I may be really close to mastering oil painting!
I am still busy working on my remodel/renovation project.
Thank you all.
