I just do what I'm told

You know, I just do what I'm told, of course. My wife tells me perhaps the back end of all these sheep could be considered, somehow, worrisome. I mentioned to her perhaps artists do things like "transitional works". Then she doesn't tell me anything. Emboldened by the assumption that this was a new concept for her, I went on to back lighting and tonal qualities and negative shapes and fine art and then there was quite a bit of complimenting her on her dress and were those new shoes? She tells me, "..........hmmmmm.............".
I'd give her Boardwalk and Parkplace and all of my hotels.

Wanchese Harbor and the OBX

humanity
I've fished the gulf steam aboard Capt. BC's boat. You can see a flag on his boat. He caught a sailfish, the flag is upside down, which means that he released the fish. He is an icon in the sportfishing industry on the Outer Banks.
skimboarding an almost perfect shorebreak
If you look close you can see Bodie Island Lighthouse on the horizon across Pamlico Sound to the beach. This is taken at the south end of Wanchese looking south east. click to enlarge

I live in such a neat place. an oceanfront out my passenger window. I thought you might like to see a bit of my island.

Yellow Bath House (SOLD)

You can't make this stuff up. I look for color when I drive the beach road. I joked with my brother once about what color yellow might be in the shade. We agreed it was a shade of yellow. Hey.....I'm trying to sell these things!

Fortunate Son (on Mud Creek)

If you follow my blog then you know this is Bitter Lake, south of Waubay, SD. If you hope to survive on Bitter Lake, bring your best game. In the lower right corner you can see a house sitting in the lake. This is the case with a lot of farm buildings and farm land in northeastern South Dakota. Great if you are a duck. The sheep painting above is from Dar Peckham's place down by Mud Creek. I spent an afternoon following Mud Creek with my siblings "hunting" for sheep.
Mud Creek flows to the west a few miles south of Bristol, South Dakota. Mud Creek flows into Amsden Dam. I fished and swam there as a child. Amsden Dam flows west to an already swollen James River east of Aberdeen, South Dakota. I believe that the James River drops approximately 6" from Aberdeen to Yankton, a distance of probably 150 "river miles" and thats pretty flat.

Ben makes big plans

I am again on my quest for imperfection. The lifegaurd's name and other vital information about surf conditions are written on the blackboard on the back of the tower.

Step into the light (SOLD)

I was painting this and I got a phone call telling me my brother in Arizona had died unexpectedly in his sleep. I prayed for him. I like to think that yes, he "stepped into the light"

Waiting for Dolphin Boats (SOLD)

John's DriveIn.
I have enjoyed painting this. John's wife started a tradition of photographing people outside of the drive in and putting the photos on the inside of the windows. She took our picture once and in no time at all the sun bleached it out. I've watched myself fade away.
