SeaSick (on what not to paint)(and when not to paint it)(SOLD)

Fin
Work in progress
Sometimes I just don't get your drift!
Sometimes I have cold starts. That's when I start a painting and question if I have mixed the right.....(green) say or why did my big beautiful potato turn into a cloud................again! Or how long is all this going to last....really? Before the cold start things, there is the bit when I am trying to decide what not to paint and how not to paint it. If it doesn't bother you the ocean is running off the canvas, then I have succeeded in my goal for this work. Or maybe its just high tide. 4 photos before "Eggs and Sausage" Acrylic on canvas 16"X36"

check out this wavecam. avalon fishing pier. (SOLD)

I just don't know what to say! I think you have been watching the stock market too much this week, maybe that's why the "sinking" feeling this painting emotes.

I think this would be a difficult painting to place in the decor. It might make one a bit dizzy hanging in the wrong place. Listen to me, always thinking about practicality and not the great artistic mind you have. That's just my style, I guess.

The wavecam is really cool, neat, bad, whatever....I really dig it!

MMK,

yeah, i guess your right. Its "not the great artistic mind I have". Well, thanks a lot. I didn't want to have to do this. I take back all that nice stuff I said about fruits and vegetables! For goodness sake!

RN, now don't go twisting my words again! And please oh please don't take back all the nice words!

This went from a cool painting to a warm painting. Or did you just photograph it in different light. It morphed!
So, are all those people really out there fishing right now? I LOVE the sound. I am a closet fish myself - did I tell you I swam with a manatee this summer?
Your paintings make me want to move to the beach.

Debbie,
It did morph. I did change it to a warmer color scheme. I took this to a gallery with a bunch of others and I did not get a chance to get a good photo of the final. I changed it more. I also changed the guy in ped-x to a runner. I hope to get a shot of them.

Debbie,
one more thing about the people fishing on the pier right now. When the fish aren't biting, they move around lifesize cardboard cutouts of people between frames. Great trick! Where you fooled?

My appetite is sated with this piece. Then again, maybe it's all the talk about food (fruits, vegetables, potatoes, fish, eggs and sausage.) Served warm, of course. Okay, I skipped lunch today, but this is still a seriously fun piece. I like the bizarre vantage point. It's a little dizzying, but then again it may just be that I've been over-served. Now what's keeping that waiter?
