Mr. Bumbles takes a vacation (SOLD)

Bumble bees spend the summer hovering around my garage door and pollinating the flowers in my garden. There is a little hole just the right size in the eve of my garage. I think Mr. Bumble's family live in my attic and I like it.

Derby Day (SOLD)

I'm happy with it.
Detail

First I painted my original 20 minute horse and rider. That was kinda fun. I painted another. Then before I knew it, I had a horse race happening right here on Derby Day. This is a big canvas and I am sort of flying blind, in that I don't have a reference photo to use. I am really liking this.
more to come.

my original  20 minute sketch was indeed in vane. That horse and rider was replaced by another more to scale. I left my original rider just beyond the fence. I am aware that posting works in progress in a logical way that makes sense and is somehow allegorical is an art in itself. What that means is that the one in the middle is first, the one on the bottom is progress and the one on top is finished.
thanks for looking.

Tee Black

This was enjoyable to paint. I would love to paint this boat under sail. Less rigging for sure.

Half a mind to sell the horses (SOLD)

This is one of the wild asses on St. John.
I'd guess most that visit somewhere exotic have half a mind to pack it in and move there.

Emily's Dragon (SOLD)

One Saturday I painted with a young Emily. I asked what she liked to draw.
"Dragons!" was her immediate response.
"....well, I don't paint no dragons." I answered.
Correction Emily, I guess I do.

This was sort of different. I bought some little turtle figurines and set them in a bowl of sand and painted them like a still life.

This black sailboat with fine lines was my view while I was snorkeling in the cove with St. Thomas in the background. The place is a living postcard complete with sound.

Curious Lambs (SOLD)

I started this painting before I left for the USVI for a week.  It feels good to be back smearing paint on canvas and the excitement of chasing shapes and colors.

Young Turks in Paradise

I have been at my son's wedding in St. John, USVI this week. Cindy and I took a tour bus ride around the island and stopped here for a photo opp. Oddly enough some of the 80 or so in the wedding party were swimming here at Caneel Bay when I snapped the shot. Look closely and you will see a very pale  young turk walking in the shallows. Yikes. I may just move here, but just not today.
